Our Founders
The practice is proudly owned and operated as a family-run establishment by husband and wife, Andy and Rachel. With Rachel’s expertise as an oral surgeon, she is readily available to offer invaluable guidance to the team. Meanwhile, Andy diligently oversees the business operations of the practice and serves as the CEO of Dentaid, a notable dental charity. Together, they bring a unique blend of professional skill and compassionate care to every aspect of the practice. Dentaid.
Our Clinicians
Rachel Evans DBS, MFDS, MSurgDent
Meet Rachel, the owner of both CFD & HFD, Rachel has been practicing dentistry since 1998 and has been involved in implant dentistry for over 18 years. She has been specialising in providing oral surgery for over 21 years and is currently employed as a Specialty Dentist within the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Southampton General Hospital.
She has worked within the field of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery undertaking emergency out of hours surgical management of facial fractures and facial trauma. She is strongly involved in the diagnosis of oral cancer and provides care for patients pre and post radiotherapy.
She enjoys exploring the forest with her family and undertaking multiple sport events. She is a keen triathlete and marathon runner.
Alex Marcu Oral Surgeon DMD Bucharest 2001
Meet Alex, he is our Oral Surgeon here at Christchurch Family Dentistry. Alex also places and restores implants.
Alex qualified as a Dental Surgeon in 2001 from the “Carol Davila” University – Bucharest and in 2005 obtained the master’s degree in Oral Surgery.
He came to the UK in 2008 where he worked for several years in a mixed general dental practice in Poole and further developed his skills completing several postgraduate courses, including ones related to his special interest in surgical procedures: One Year Implantology Certificate – Dr Mark Hamburger (London), Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Implantology- Dr. Stuart Ellis (Cambridge), Bristol University Postgraduate Certificate in Periodontology and Local Anaesthesiology, Oral Surgery Update Course – King’s College (London).
His spare time is spent with his young family, where they enjoy going to the cinema and exploring new places.
Sarah Deacon BDS, MFDS, RCPS (Glasg)
Meet Sarah, one of our general dentists who likes providing cosmetic treatment and general dentistry. Sarah grew up in Scotland and qualified from the University of Dundee.
After completing her foundation year in Scotland, she made the move to Dorset and started working with us. She has completed many courses in different areas including facial aesthetics, orthodontics, oral surgery, advanced restorative composites and sedation and is always striving to improve her skills. She has also passed additional examinations to be admitted to The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.
She often volunteers with Dentaid too and has previously been involved with dental projects overseas. Anyone is welcome with Sarah; she loves meeting new patients from all different walks of life. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming, dancing, hiking, and travelling. Sarah also loves animals, and she has a rescue rabbit called Herb!
Shadwala Surendra BDS, MDS, PG restorative
Meet Shadwala, she has obtained a 3 year post graduate diploma in restorative dentistry from the prestigious E.D.I. She also holds a bachelors and a masters in endodontics when in India.
She provides general dental treatments and has a keen interest in root canal treatment and cosmetic dentistry, including composite bonding. Where suitable, she offers Inman aligners to straighten the front teeth. She is passionate about improving quality of life through promoting dental heath. She creates a calm environment, especially for our nervous patients, putting them at ease.
Her spare time is spent in long walks, exploring new places, playing badminton & learning the piano.
Lauren Holmes BDS
Meet Lauren, she enjoys helping even the most nervous patients feel as comfortable as possible during their treatments. She enjoys health care dentistry and helping you have confidence in your teeth and smile again and has had many happy patients over the last few years who have felt very well looked after by Lauren. Lauren will always be open and honest with you about all your options and help you make the right decision for you with your dental treatments.
Our Hygienists
Katarina Oku BSc
Meet Kate, one of our highly skilled hygienists here at Christchurch Family Dentistry. Kate is super gentle and amazing with new patients, she enjoys the diversity of patients she meets every day. She loves listening to her patients, caring for them, and tailoring personalised treatment plans that improve their oral health and their confidence to smile.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, outdoor activities like trekking, skiing, gardening, or simply reading a good book
Angelika Sena Dias BSc (Hons) Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene (Distinction)
Meet Angelika, Angelika graduated from the University of Plymouth with a Distinction in Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene and received an Academic Award. Since graduating, she has attended further courses in periodontal treatment, teeth whitening and air polishing. She keeps up to date with current evidence-based guidelines to ensure her patients receive the best level of care.
Angelika’s favourite part about her role is helping people improve their oral health by implementing individually tailored advice to create healthy lifelong habits. She also really enjoys putting nervous patients at ease and helping them to alleviate their anxieties.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling, experiencing new places and learning languages.
Vicky Gurd BSc
Meet Vicky, she has been with the practice since 2014, bringing 23 years of experience. Vicky provides prevention and plaque control visits, gives tips and advice on oral hygiene maintenance at home. In her spare time she likes gardening and the outdoors especially the New Forest where she was brought up, and she is very family orientated.
Support Staff
Lisa Mardy Practice Manager
Meet Lisa, the Practice Manager here at Highcliffe and Christchurch Family Dentistry. Lisa is the backbone of our team, and she spends her days ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so that the clinicians can do what they do best. Lisa has 10 years’ experience in the dental field and spent most of this working as a dental nurse before becoming our Practice Manager. Creating a happy and positive environment for patients and staff is something Lisa is very passionate about.
In her spare time, she likes to go for long walks with her sausage dog Kylo and loves to try out a new recipe! Next stop… MasterChef!!!
Beth Chapman Assistant Manager & Head Dental Nurse
Meet Beth, she is the Assistant Manager & Head Dental Nurse of both CFD & HFD. She has been a dental nurse for 6 years and worked here for 4 years. Beth has a busy day to day work life, looking after our lovely nurses and helping Lisa (our practice manager), with the day to day running of Christchurch.
Outside of work you’ll either find her in the gym or walking her Labrador puppy Moose! Beth also really enjoying baking, with some of the sweet treats making their way to work for everyone to enjoy!
Charlotte Manion CFD Head Receptionist
Meet Charlotte, our Head Receptionist at Christchurch Family Dentistry. Charlotte prides herself on creating a welcoming and caring environment for everyone she meets. She likes to ensure that patients have the best experience, and she is there throughout their dental journey. She loves meeting new patient’s and she can’t wait to meet you!
Outside of work, Charlotte loves adrenaline fuelled adventures. This has seen her do many things from kayaking to skydiving, but you will normally find her going on long walks with her lovely Labrador Saffie or spending time with friends and family.
Barbera Wilcox Receptionist
Meet Barbara, one of our Receptionists here at CFD. She has been a part of the family for a few years and within that time she has enjoyed having many interesting conversations with patients in the waiting room. She loves to chat so much that you’ll see her giving the dentist a big frown when they come to bring you into surgery!!!
Barbara has lots of hobbies outside of work; too many for us to list. She can’t wait to meet you and chew your ear off!
